Metal Workshop
This class will be project based. These projects will help you learn
the skills to create more advanced pieces in the future. It is
important to learn the basics so you can build skills and learn to
accomplish your designs and ideas. You will learn to solder and
what solder to use for each task. we will start making a simple
pair of earrings and move onto a bezel set ring. There will always
be a given project unless you have your own in mind.
Supply List: tool box, bench pin, jewelry saw, saw blades (herkules #2 size), bees wax, bur life, or a broken
candle for lubricating your saw blades, chain nose, wire cutters, round nose pliers, large hand file (8 inches
long), set of needle files, hard charcoal block, tweezers Double AA (for soldering, might get damaged, must be
pointed and should not have round tips), cabochon stone or stones Metals: 6 inches of 3 mm sterling silver half
round wire, 1 foot plain strip fine silver 3/16-bezel wire 28 gauge, serling silver sheet 24 gauge 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch
used for backplates on bezels, soft, medium & hard solder about an inch of each sheet, 1 foot of 16g, 18g, 20g,
22g s/s wire.
